The goal of the Chancellor’s Office is to support the Chancellor’s leadership of UC San Diego in fulfillment of its mission of teaching, research and service to society. Responsibilities that fall within the Chancellor’s Office range from outreach to the San Diego community to fiscal management in accordance with UC and UC San Diego policies.

The Role of the Chancellor
Just as UC San Diego has grown and evolved over the years, so has the role of the chancellor. A successful chancellor has to be an executive with the political skills to respond to internal and external constituencies; an administrator with the technical expertise to manage billion-dollar budgets and thousands of employees.
