Last night, Chancellor Khosla hosted his second Community Town Hall in two weeks to share UC San Diego’s commitment to our region. During the meeting at the South County Regional Education Center, the Chancellor gave an update on the campus’ strategic planning process and the five goals that have emerged. He also discussed early actions the university is taking to strengthen ties with the community, including creating the Chancellor’s Associates scholarship for local students. Last night, Chancellor Khosla announced the program would be expanded to students from the Reality Changers program, in addition to students from Southwestern College, San Diego City College, and UC San Diego’s three partner high schools. After the presentation, a frank and lively discussion ensued about the best ways to motivate, encourage and prepare our local students for a UC San Diego education.
