Broadening the Path to Higher Education

UC San Diego continues to expand the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship Program, so even more local and high-achieving students can attend our world-class university.  This year, 265 incoming freshmen received the scholarship and the university added two new partner schools to the program – Hoover High School and E3 Civic High School.  UC San Diego’s newest scholars were honored at a reception last week at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in Southeast San Diego.  Hundreds of students and their family members attended, along with Chancellor’s Associates donors, current scholars, UC San Diego faculty and staff, and leaders from our partner schools and organizations.  Chancellor Khosla congratulated all of the new scholars and awarded them with a blue and gold Triton honor cord, signifying the university’s pledge to help them throughout their academic career.

The Chancellor created the scholarship and program in 2013 to support talented local students with great potential, financial need and the motivation to academically succeed at UC San Diego.  To date, more than 615 students have received the Chancellor’s Associate Scholarship.
