“We are excited to spark our students’ creativity, and give them the skills and knowledge they need to solve real-world challenges.” – Chancellor Khosla
UC San Diego is home to a new EnVision Arts and Engineer Maker Studio that is providing students with unique hands-on learning experience. The studio is filled with a wide range of design, fabrication and prototyping tools, from 3D printers and welding stations to a sophisticated laser cutter. The official dedication of the new space was held last week, but the studio has been in use by students and faculty throughout the winter quarter. During the dedication and open house, the Chancellor remarked that the addition of the studio is part of our student-centered efforts to provide more opportunities for experiential learning and to improve the overall student academic experience. The 3,000-square-foot studio is located on the third floor of the Structural and Materials Engineering building.
