Honoring the Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

“We are deeply committed to values Martin Luther King, Jr. embodied and upheld—community, social justice, equality—through our mission as a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university.” - Chancellor Khosla

UC San Diego Tritons marched together at the parade on Sunday.

Many UC San Diego community members, including Chancellor Khosla, spent the weekend celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.  Dozens of Tritons marched in the 34th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade downtown on Sunday and participated in the Volunteer50 Day of Service project at Bayside Elementary School in Imperial Beach.  Chancellor Khosla also attended two community breakfasts to honor Dr. King – the Jackie Robinson YMCA breakfast on Jan. 17 and the Alpha Phi Alpha Educators breakfast on Jan. 18.

As part of the Day of Service, students painted bricks to create a walkway to a newly planted garden at Bayside Elementary School.

UC San Diego leaders joined community members at the Alpha Phi Alpha Educators breakfast.
