“We are here to provide you with a world-class education and a wide range of opportunities so you can achieve your goals and dreams.” – Chancellor Khosla
A celebratory reception was held last night for UC San Diego’s newest Chancellor’s Associates Scholars and their families at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in Southeast San Diego. Chancellor Khosla opened the program by congratulating the newly admitted freshmen on their admission and encouraging them to choose UC San Diego. He talked about our campus support program for our scholars, which includes faculty and peer mentoring, academic counseling and leadership development training. He also emphasized that our scholars are part of a strong and tightknit community, and recognized the current UC San Diego scholars in attendance, as well as the campus leaders, principals and directors, scholarship donors and family members who support our scholars. Each student then received a blue and gold honor cord from the Chancellor as an official welcome to our Triton family.
Established in 2013, the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship supports local and high-achieving students from underrepresented communities with financial need. There are currently 400 scholars on campus, and the Chancellor’s goal is to expand the program to 800 students.
