On Saturday, Chancellor Khosla and Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Becky Petitt announced the Black Academic Excellence Initiative at UC San Diego’s Black History Month brunch.  The initiative aims to enhance African-American success by addressing the low representation of African-American students and faculty at UC San Diego, with an emphasis on an expansion of scholarships for African-American students.  After the announcement, the Chancellor introduced keynote speaker, actor and humanitarian Danny Glover, who spoke about African-American history and contributions.  Following his talk, Glover met with students.  More information about the Black Academic Excellence Initiative will be shared in Thursday's issue of This Week @ UC San Diego.
