UC San Diego is leading the launch of a city-wide civic design challenge to get citizens involved in solving our region’s mobility and transportation challenges. Chancellor Khosla joined San Diego City Mayor Kevin Faulconer, as well as Don Norman and Steven Dow from the UC San Diego Design Lab, to announce “Design for San Diego” yesterday at the Downtown Works building. The challenge seeks to harness the power of crowdsourcing and human-centered design to address concerns with transportation and mobility in San Diego. At the launch event, Chancellor Khosla talked about the importance of multi-disciplinary and multi-industry collaboration in solving today’s increasingly complex societal challenges. He also emphasized UC San Diego’s commitment to public service and enriching our community as part of our university’s mission.
