Encouraging Entrepreneurs

Chancellor Khosla served as the keynote speaker at the 7th annual Elevator Pitch Competition hosted by the UC San Diego Entrepreneur Challenge student organization.  The Chancellor talked about the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration in solving pressing societal challenges.  After his speech, 10 students had the opportunity to present their two-minute “elevator pitch” ideas to a panel of judges.

The Entrepreneur Challenge student organization fosters community involvement and technological innovation by bringing multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and business-minded students together with local area entrepreneurs and professionals.

Chancellor Hosts Four More Town Hall Meetings

Attendees listen to comments at the Town Hall at Moores Cancer Center.

As part of UC San Diego’s comprehensive strategic planning process, Chancellor Khosla hosted four Town Hall meetings in three days.  Two of the meetings were held in the community – in Southeast San Diego and the Southbay – and two were held at the Moores Cancer Center and at Hillcrest Medical Center.  Attendees participated in brainstorming sessions to discuss how the campus can build on our successful track record of education, research, patient care and service, and continue to positively impact our community.  More information about the strategic plan can be found at plan.ucsd.edu.
