The UC San Diego community sends our thoughts and well wishes to all of those impacted by the recent hurricanes. These storms have affected millions of people and the hurricane season is not yet over. We are deeply saddened by the hardships so many families must now bear. I’d like to once again share information on large-scale organizations dedicated to providing disaster assistance, such as the American Red Cross and United Way. Our hearts go out to all of the families affected by these storms.
Chancellor Khosla made an appearance on the KUSI morning show last week to talk about several new programs, projects and opportunities that will enhance the student experience. UC San Diego is expecting more than 5,400 new freshmen and 2,400 new transfer students to arrive on campus this fall, bringing our total campus population to a record 36,400. To accommodate the student growth, the campus is adding student housing, new degree programs and amenities. Watch the interview.
Today’s decision by the Trump administration to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) is distressing. At UC San Diego, our DACA students are pursuing their education in some of the most challenging degree programs, conducting research, performing community service and enhancing our campus community.
