"Energy is an important component of food, fuel and the environment, and thinking in a holistic manner is key to solving issues we face today. UC San Diego is uniquely positioned to educate the leaders of the future." – Chancellor Khosla speaking at the Food and Fuel for the 21st Century Symposium
Chancellor Khosla and California State Senator Ben Hueso were among the participants at the recent Food and Fuel for the 21st Century Symposium. The Senator was on campus to gain a deeper understanding of the growing field of algae production as a benefit to energy, environmental and economic issues.
Senator Hueso visited an algae laboratory at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Cal-CAB algae ponds on campus before attending the symposium, where he talked about the value of collaboration among government, academia and the private sector. Chancellor Khosla also emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and touted UC San Diego’s unique strengths across disciplines in educating our next generation leaders who will address complex global challenges.
