“I am impressed with how deeply connected we are with the community, and I want to continue to strengthen those ties.” – Chancellor Khosla
The Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board (CCAB) held its year-end meeting to say thank you and farewell to departing board members and to share successes from the year. The CCAB members are advocates for UC San Diego and they advise the Chancellor with a specific emphasis on the campus’ role in the community. After expressing his appreciation to all of the board members for their advocacy and support, the Chancellor talked about the early success of the Chancellor’s Associates Scholars program, which is helping local students to attend UC San Diego. Nearly 65 percent of the students who were offered the scholarship at UC San Diego accepted it. Mica Pollack, director of CREATE, also gave a presentation on the new STEM Success initiative to network UC San Diego’s resources to improve the K-20 STEM education pipeline in San Diego.
