Hundreds of local middle and high schools will soon receive Triton Spirit Packages designed to enhance UC San Diego’s visibility with students and teachers, and encourage them to consider UC San Diego as their university of choice. The packages are part of the Chancellor’s community outreach plan, which supports the emerging goals of the strategic plan to be a student-centered university. Each box contains two UC San Diego pennants, a poster of our campus’ Chicano Legacy Mural, and brochures and information about UC San Diego student life.
In his efforts to communicate that a UC San Diego education is attainable and affordable, the Chancellor will attend a White House summit on Jan. 16 with President Barack Obama and other university leaders to discuss efforts to increase access and boost the academic success of lower-income students. UC San Diego will be recognized for efforts including our UniversityLink and Chancellor’s Associates Scholars programs.
The first round of Triton spirit packages was dispatched this week. A second round will be sent to local Native American educational centers and schools, and a third round will go to local community colleges and UC San Diego’s partner community organizations. UC San Diego’s Chancellor Office partnered with the Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs office to fund and create the packages.
