Setting the Example in Sustainability

UC San Diego’s Earth Week celebration drew to a close today with one final and fitting event – the annual Sustainability Awards.  Honorees included students who brought water filtration and solar panels to a village in Thailand, staff who worked to “green” Geisel Library and alumni who started their own local sustainability television show.  Before handing out the awards, Chancellor Khosla reflected on the numerous and diverse sustainability initiatives on campus and said, “We are an example of what is possible. Our students, faculty and staff from various disciplines work together on these initiatives.  I am impressed with their collaboration, their level of involvement and their commitment to make this campus more sustainable.  Sustainability permeates the whole campus.”

Chancellor Khosla presented the Sustainability Awards to campus members who have gone above and beyond to make UC San Diego, and our world, a healthier and greener place.
