“The research vessel Sally Ride will allow us to address our planet’s most pressing challenges and ensure that our oceans and atmosphere are preserved and protected for generations." - Chancellor Khosla
The R/V Sally Ride is making its first port call in San Francisco on the way down to its home at the Nimitz Marine Facility in Point Loma. Chancellor Khosla, Vice Chancellor Margaret Leinen, and many leaders and scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography are on hand to greet the ship on the Embarcadero. While the ship is docked, the public is invited to take tours and see firsthand why it’s one of the most technologically advanced oceanographic research vessels in the world. The R/V Sally Ride is owned by the U.S. Navy and operated by UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
