Chancellor Khosla recently attended the Department of Music’s Reed Family Concert at Mandeville Auditorium, which is part of the “It’s About Time” festival.  Professor Steven Schick, who holds the Reed Family Presidential Chair in Music at UC San Diego, is curator of the festival.  To celebrate this year’s 100th anniversary of the famous “Histoire du Soldat,” a Stravinsky classic, Schick asked Department of Literature alumnus and best-selling author Luis Alberto Urrea to replace the text with his Tijuana poems and bring the story of the border to life.  At the performance, the Chancellor thanked UC San Diego champions Ann and Joel Reed for their support of the university and shared his pride in the stellar and groundbreaking work happening on campus, including the cutting-edge binational performance.
