Engaging with Legislators

Chancellor Khosla with Assemblymember and UC San Diego Alumna Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks)

Chancellor Khosla met with several California legislators earlier this week in Sacramento to talk about issues in higher education and planned improvements on the UC San Diego campus.  The meetings provided an opportunity to enhance communication and strengthen ties between UC San Diego and our government leaders.  The Chancellor shared the university’s plans to physically transform over the coming years to accommodate student growth and the arrival of the UC San Diego Blue Line Light Rail Transit in 2021.  He also highlighted UC San Diego’s plan to expand our presence in downtown San Diego with the Innovative Cultural and Education Hub.

Celebrating the Arts

After a spectacular performance at UC San Diego’s Conrad Prebys Concert Hall last week, the Grammy-nominated Enso String Quartet performed a special concert at Audrey Geisel University House over the weekend, hosted by ArtPower.  Chancellor Khosla was joined by members of ArtPower’s leadership advisory council and community leaders for the performance.  The Chancellor thanked the ArtPower supporters and talked about the importance of the arts to a person’s education and growth.  Since its inception, more than 100,000 students and community members have benefited from the program.
