Chancellor Khosla recently attended the closing night performance of the play Strange Men at the Wagner New Play Festival. Before the performance began, the Chancellor thanked Molli Wagner for her generous support of UC San Diego and talked about the positive impact of the Wagner New Play Festival on the Theatre & Dance Department. He also mentioned the importance of the arts at UC San Diego and throughout the world in sparking innovation and creative thinking. The Wagner New Play Festival features world-premiere productions written by talented MFA playwrights and directed, acted, stage-managed and designed by our nationally acclaimed MFA students.

Chancellor Khosla joined senior leadership across campus in honoring 10 extraordinary staff members at the 32nd annual Exemplary Staff Employee of the Year Award ceremony on Monday. The program recognizes employees who make exceptional contributions to the UC San Diego and San Diego communities. Nominated by their colleagues, the award recipients represent a wide range of areas on campus—from Resource Management & Planning and Academic Affairs to Health Sciences, Marine Sciences, Student Affairs and Research. Principal Exemplary Staff Employee of the Year, Jennifer Bowser, holds her award while celebrating with her husband and colleagues from Resource Management & Planning: Sustainability Resource Center. Jennifer has been innovative in seeking solutions for sustainability.

UC San Diego partnered with the Urban League of San Diego County for the 26th annual Golden Pyramid Awards to recognize high-achieving high school seniors from underrepresented communities in San Diego. The awards ceremony was held on campus on Saturday. All of the nearly 40 students received medals from the Urban League and a few students received scholarships from the Urban League and the USS Midway Museum. At the event, Chancellor Khosla congratulated the students on their hard work and encouraged them to consider UC San Diego as their university of choice.
Several UC San Diego departments participated in an informational fair after the event so students and families could learn more about what UC San Diego has to offer—from financial aid to campus community centers.
