“We are here to provide you with a world-class education and a wide range of opportunities so you can achieve your goals and dreams.” – Chancellor Khosla
UC San Diego’s newest Chancellor’s Associates Scholars and their family members recently received a warm welcome from students, staff, faculty and university supporters at a celebratory reception at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in Southeast San Diego. Chancellor Khosla opened the program by congratulating the students on their admission, encouraging them to choose UC San Diego, and thanking all of the people who’ve helped the students on their road to success. He then awarded each scholar with a blue and gold honor cord, explaining that it signifies our pledge to help them throughout their academic career and that he hopes they’ll wear it again when they graduate as Tritons.
The Chancellor’s Associates Scholars program was established three years ago to support local, low-income students from UC San Diego’s three partner high schools. It has since been expanded to include more high-achieving students with financial need and California students enrolled in federally recognized tribes. This year, approximately 300 scholarships have been offered.
