Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all of our San Diego community members affected by the recent fires in the County. The high temperatures and strong winds that we’ve been experiencing in our region are expected to decrease over the next few days, which will help to reduce the fire danger. However, it’s important that we all remain on high alert and monitor air quality conditions, especially when spending time outdoors this weekend.
I’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to the brave firefighters who continue to work tirelessly to battle the blazes in our County. I’d also like to thank our UC San Diego campus members for your compassion and flexibility, as some of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and supporters have been impacted by evacuation orders, school closures and other fire-related issues.
UC San Diego’s Human Resources has compiled and posted a list of resources and support services on Blink for campus members affected by the San Diego County fires. The County’s Emergency website continues to be updated with the latest information on the fires, and also features information about preparing family disaster plans.
We will continue to provide updates, as needed. Please stay safe this weekend.
