“César Chávez is an inspiration to us all.  It is our responsibility to carry on his legacy and continue his work to improve our society.”  - Chancellor Khosla

UC San Diego MEChA students enjoy the César Chávez Month kickoff lunch with Chancellor Khosla.

UC San Diego’s celebration of César Chávez Month begins today.  The first campus event was a kickoff luncheon at the Price Center.  During a welcome address, Chancellor Khosla talked about Chávez’s 10 core values and how they align with our Principles of Community and the values outlined in our strategic plan.  Dr. Roberto Rodriguez, an award-winning journalist and Assistant Professor of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona, served as the keynote speaker.  Awards were also handed out to campus members who carry on the legacy of César Chávez through their work and service.  To view a full calendar of events for UC San Diego’s César Chávez Month commemoration, click here.
