“I’m here on behalf of our Triton community members who appreciate all that you do to keep our campus running.”
– Chancellor Khosla
Staff members were transported to a Parisian bistro for the annual staff appreciation event, “Celebrate the Night.” Chancellor Khosla expressed his thanks and appreciation to the night-time staff for their hard work and dedication to our campus. During the event, staff members enjoyed gourmet sliders and fries and sweet treats from the candy bar. To commemorate the night, staff members had their photos taken in front of a green screen that projected the San Diego skyline.
During his visit to the Brain Corporation in Sorrento Valley yesterday, Chancellor Khosla chatted with UC San Diego students and alumni who work at the company. They included Jacobs School of Engineering graduates turned scientists, two graduate students who are part-time employees and undergraduate students who are part of the Jacobs School’s Team Internship Program (TIP). TIP brings together teams of students from different majors who get real-world engineering experiences at companies around the world. Interns at the Brain Corporation have worked to build a drone and experimented with various robot prototypes.
As the featured speaker at the La Jolla Rotary Club meeting yesterday, Chancellor Khosla shared some of the amazing things happening on the UC San Diego campus, including the progress we’re making on our strategic planning process. He talked about how the campus has sharpened our mission to be a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university. He also explained that UC San Diego is an economic engine that fuels our local economy and is also a community resource.
