Chancellor Khosla served as the keynote speaker at the Power of Education Forum over the weekend, hosted by the the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation and held on the UC San Diego campus. The forum gathered academics, executives, entrepreneurs, experts and community leaders to discuss ideas on how technologies – such as smart phones and tablets – can be used to advance education around the world. During his keynote speech, the Chancellor talked about the importance of education in promoting social mobility and civic responsibility, as well as the need to broaden college access and affordability. He mentioned the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship as an example of UC San Diego’s commitment to providing affordable education. The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is a non-profit organization, offering basic education to thousands of children in rural India.
