Surfing for a Good Cause

It’s been called the most successful surfing fundraiser in the world.  On Sunday, 550 people gathered at the beach in La Jolla for the 20th annual Luau and Longboard Invitational, including surf legends, university supporters, faculty, staff and the Chancellor. The event began with a core group of people wanting to raise awareness and much needed funds for cancer research, and now it has grown into one of the community’s favorite fundraising events. To date, the event has raised more than $5.5 million for the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center.
