Supporting Friendship, Faculty and Philanthropy

“By raising money for student scholarships, you are helping to increase access and affordability, which is a priority at UC San Diego.  We appreciate your impact, generosity and commitment to our students.” – Chancellor Khosla

Chancellor Khosla stopped by the Town & Gown luncheon today at the Faculty Club to thank community members for supporting our campus and our students.  The organization was formed in 2007 with the mission of promoting student scholarship and engaging San Diego residents in the life and work of UC San Diego.  The number of scholarships awarded by Town & Gown continues to increase each year.

Town & Gown holds a luncheon on campus every month with a featured speaker who highlights the amazing work and research happening on campus.  Today’s speaker was Professor Ralph Greenspan, director of the Center for Brain Activity Mapping (CBAM).

At the luncheon, Chancellor Khosla talked about his initial conversations with Greenspan about the development of CBAM and the challenge to map the human brain, and how they were at the White House when President Obama announced the BRAIN Initiative.
