UC San Diego alumnus and Grammy-nominated musician Nathan East helped to draw a big crowd of more than 300 people, including Chancellor Khosla, at the 18th annual Lytle Benefit Concert. East appeared on the Grammy’s Award show with Daft Punk and Stevie Wonder on Jan. 26. He then returned to his alma mater the same week to play at the benefit concert which raises money for scholarships for Preuss School students who attend UC San Diego’s Thurgood Marshall College. Cecil Lytle, who hosts the benefit concert, was one of the Preuss School’s founders. He has spent his career as a world-renowned pianist, a UC San Diego professor, a provost, a fundraiser, and a champion for education and underserved youth.
