Reconnecting with Alumni in Los Angeles

Chancellor Khosla with alumni Rick Labowe and Nathan East

Triton alumni, university supporters and members of the UC San Diego community gathered in the heart of Los Angeles last week for a “UC San Diego and You” event to reconnect and be inspired by groundbreaking Triton innovations.  Chancellor Khosla welcomed the guests at the Cross-Campus Downtown LA coworking space and shared how the university’s vision is enhancing opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship on campus.  The program also showcased two pioneering entrepreneurial ventures founded by UC San Diego students that are transforming industries around the world.

Voyager Space Technologies is revolutionizing the approach to automated spacecraft design, while ionboard is an electric skateboard startup disrupting the industry by offering a high performance, low cost product.  Both Voyager and ionboard are involved in The Basement, UC San Diego’s incubator/accelerator program for student entrepreneurs.  A reception followed the main event allowing the attendees the opportunity to mingle with new and old acquaintances.
