Comienza con un Sueño, “It Begins with a Dream,” is a college outreach event held every year at UC San Diego to encourage first-generation, low-income students from bilingual families to pursue a higher education.  More than 1,000 parents and students from middle and high schools across San Diego and Imperial Counties attended the event over the weekend.

During the program, Chancellor Khosla emphasized that a UC San Diego education is accessible and affordable, and talked about the university’s student-centered approach and resources to foster student success.  He encouraged the young students to work hard in school so they can one day become a UC San Diego Triton.  Information about university admission requirements and how to prepare for college was provided through a resource fair and bilingual workshops.
