Promoting STEM Education and Careers

Around 100 middle and high school students and their mentors from the Mexican-American Women’s National Association (MANA) gathered at UC San Diego over the weekend for a conference promoting STEM careers.  The students and MANA members toured many areas of campus, including labs at the Jacobs School of Engineering and Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  Professor Olivia Graeve from the Department of Mechanical and Space Engineering served as the keynote speaker; Chancellor Khosla stopped by to welcome the students and to encourage them to consider UC San Diego as their university of choice.  MANA de San Diego provides leadership development, health and wellness workshops, mentoring and educational financial support for women of all ages and career fields.
