Launching Industry Innovation

“This new space promotes collaboration between the university and industry, nurtures innovative research, and supports the translation of discoveries to benefit society.” – Chancellor Khosla

UC San Diego’s Qualcomm Institute is home to a new Innovation Space inside the research institute’s headquarters building.  It’s a place where qualified faculty startups, industry partners and national laboratories can lease office or lab space.  The goal is to advance the translation of ideas from the lab into products and companies in the marketplace.  During the space launch yesterday, Chancellor Khosla talked about the importance of the campus addition to the university’s growing ecosystem supporting entrepreneurship and technology transfer.

Alumnus, Qualcomm Institute researcher and co-founder of STEAM Engine, Inc. Albert Lin talked about his start-up company, which is housed in the new space.
