Lacing Up for a Good Cause

Nearly 4,000 runners and walkers took part in UC San Diego’s annual Triton 5k over the weekend, the highest attendance in 20 years.  A record number of alumni also participated in the race.  The 3.1 mile course wound through the heart of campus and past renowned campus landmarks like Geisel Library and the Sun God.  After the race, participants were treated to a festival at Triton Track & Field Stadium, complete with local food vendors, live music and a fun zone for kids of all ages.  Since the race was established in 1996, it has raised more than $3.4 million for student scholarships.
