“We are committed to strengthening our relationship with the Native American community and providing opportunities for education.” – Chancellor Khosla
This year marks UC San Diego’s 10th annual campus celebration of California Native American Day. Over the last decade, the campus commemoration has grown into an expanded series of events throughout the academic year to honor the legacy and contributions of the Native American community. This year’s celebration kicked off on Friday with a luncheon at the International Center. Chancellor Khosla joined campus and community members at the luncheon, which included performances by Kumeyaay Bird Singers and a Creation Story workshop. The Chancellor talked about his desire to strengthen the ties between the campus and community, as well as the expansion of the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship to all eligible California Native American students enrolled in federally recognized tribes.
