Honoring Native American Culture and History

Native American Student Alliance members, including Ricardo Saenz (middle), honored staff member Darlene Schlueter (left) for her help in coordinating the Powwow.

The 5th annual Powwow was held on the UC San Diego campus over the weekend.  Hosted by the Native American Student Alliance, the Powwow unites tribal members in celebration of the connections to traditions and spirituality, to the Earth and to one another in a social, personal and spiritual meeting.  Chancellor Khosla, along with Vice Chancellor – Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Becky Petitt and Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs Juan González, attended the gathering to show support and to strengthen ties between the university and the Native American community.
