Exploring the Notion of Home

Fallen Star artist Do Ho Suh is on campus this week filming a documentary about the artwork.  The installation is the 18th permanent sculpture commissioned by UC San Diego’s Stuart Collection.  The small “home” sits askew atop the seventh floor of Jacobs Hall and represents feelings of displacement when landing in a new home and cultural environment.  Chancellor Khosla was interviewed along with Suh for the documentary and they both talked about their experiences of immigrating to the United States.
