Celebrating African American Culture and History

The Black Storytellers of San Diego shared an oral history of the African American experience in the region and around the country.

Chancellor Khosla met with community members, business leaders, educators, students and local residents in Southeast San Diego to learn more about the rich culture and history of San Diego’s African American community.  While touring the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation and the Elementary Institute of Science, Khosla emphasized the importance of improving UC San Diego’s diversity and strengthening the campus’s connection to the community.  “I want our campus to be a more inclusive and welcoming place where every one of your kids and your neighbors’ kids can imagine themselves belonging and succeeding at UC San Diego.”
