The Basement – a program to stimulate, encourage and serve the entrepreneurial spirit of UC San Diego students – is celebrating its first year and achievements.  A special one-year anniversary reception was held over the weekend to unite the campus partners, alumni leaders, students and supporters who have had a hand in The Basement’s success.  At the event, Chancellor Khosla talked about the importance of bringing together students and alumni, ideas and inspiration, ambition and real-world experience to continue UC San Diego’s legacy and leadership at the forefront of innovation.

Accomplishments of The Basement include: cultivating 21 teams of students, teams raising more than $80,000 through competitions and Kickstarter for their projects, and partnerships with The Rady School of Management and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization.
