“We are proud that UC San Diego's Bioengineering Department has been a leader in the field since its founding, advancing our mission of education, research and service.” – Chancellor Khosla
UC San Diego’s Bioengineering Department is celebrating 50 years of achievements in education and research. To commemorate the founding of the bioengineering program at UC San Diego, which later became a department in 1994, a gala was held on Friday evening at the Birch Aquarium. During the program, Chancellor Khosla talked about how the bioengineering program was founded in the same spirit as the campus, as an innovative, collaborative and experimental place. The bioengineering graduate program has been consistently ranked number one in the nation by the National Research Council.
