UC San Diego continues its ambitious efforts to add student housing on campus as part of our overall physical and intellectual transformation to enhance the student experience and create a living and learning infrastructure. Today, the campus held a groundbreaking for the Nuevo West housing project.
UC San Diego recently opened Mesa Nueva housing and will break ground on Nuevo East next year. In all, the three housing projects will add more than 3,500 beds for graduate and professional students. UC San Diego’s goal is to add more than 10,000 beds to make the university one of the top primarily residential campuses in the University of California system, and enable us to provide a four-year housing guarantee for undergraduates and Ph.D. students at 20 percent below market cost.
The North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood will also break ground next year, adding 2,000 beds for undergraduate students and providing a new home for Sixth College.
