“I am here to get a better understanding of San Diego’s broader community and to encourage Imperial Valley students to consider UC San Diego as their university of choice.” – Chancellor Khosla
Chancellor Khosla recently spent an entire day visiting with students, educators, elected officials, and business and community leaders in Imperial Valley. The community outreach day was planned so the Chancellor could learn more about Imperial Valley and also strengthen ties between the university and the community. He began the day by giving a keynote speech at Imperial High School as part of their Higher Education Day, encouraging students to apply to the University of California and to consider UC San Diego as their university of choice. He then met with the P-16 Council and praised their vision and work to prepare young students for higher education. Later in the day, he met with the President of Imperial Valley College, and then hosted a community reception where he recognized the first class of Chancellor’s Associates Scholars from Imperial Valley.
