UC San Diego alumni, current students, staff and faculty recently converged on campus and in the community for a weekend of service and celebration as part of the True Triton Weekend. The two-day, service-oriented event kicked off with a leadership conference last Saturday morning, followed by the True Triton Celebration which recognized three dedicated alumni volunteers for their extraordinary commitment to the university. Chancellor Khosla was on hand to honor this year’s award recipients – Sue Hart PhD ‘86 - Physical Sciences, Steve Hart MA ’80 - Physical Sciences, and Otis Watson ’76 - Social Sciences. On Sunday, more than 200 volunteers participated in the Alumni Day of Service, working on beautification projects at Zamorano Fine Arts Academy, a high achieving K-5 magnet school located in Paradise Hills.
UC San Diego is nationally recognized as a leader in public service, ranking as the second best public university in the nation by Washington Monthly for our commitment to serving the nation’s public interest, promoting social mobility and producing groundbreaking research.
