“Sustainability is part of our campus legacy and tradition. It’s in our DNA.” - Chancellor Khosla
UC San Diego’s celebration of Earth Week is about raising awareness for environmental sustainability. It’s also about applauding the efforts of our students, staff and faculty who go above and beyond to make our campus one of the greenest in the nation.
As part of Earth Week, the annual Sustainability Awards were held on Monday, recognizing campus members for their contributions, which include promoting alternative transportation, blogging about sustainable actions, and encouraging gardening and composting. Chancellor Khosla handed out the awards at the ceremony, and talked about UC San Diego’s commitment to employing our mission of education, research and service to improve our planet.
UC San Diego’s Earth Week activities continue through the week with an e-waste collection, an I-House Fashion Swap and much more.
