Helping Students Reach College and Their Dreams

Chancellor Khosla recently visited Reality Changers, a nonprofit group founded by UC San Diego alumnus Chris Yanov that helps disadvantaged youth attend college.  Khosla talked with the students about the importance of community engagement and service, and encouraged them to purse a higher education and find their passion in life.  During his visit, Yanov presented Khosla with a giant-sized $1 million check to symbolize the investment of Reality Changers in supporting students at UC San Diego through scholarships and a summer immersion program.

Reaching Out to High School Students and Their Families

Around 250 students and parents from the San Diego Unified School District attended “An Evening with UC San Diego” at Lincoln High School on March 4.  The ongoing community outreach program provides information about preparing for higher education.  Campus leaders, including Chancellor Khosla, current students, and staff from Admissions and Student Affairs, covered a range of topics, from financial aid and student life to the University of California’s A-G course requirements.  Students and their families also had an opportunity to ask questions, and hear several students talk about their college experiences during a panel discussion.

Newly appointed SDUSD Superintendent Cindy Marten, a UC San Diego alumna, attended An Evening with UC San Diego.
